Start with access and communication
Confirm the service date, arrival window, parking instructions, and the safest way to enter the property. Share gate, elevator, or building procedures through the agreed secure method, never through a public website form.
Let the team know who will be present and how you prefer to receive updates during the visit.
Remove decisions, not ordinary living
Put away valuables, medication, important paperwork, cash, and fragile personal items. Clear excessive clutter from the surfaces you most want cleaned, but do not feel responsible for wiping counters, scrubbing bathrooms, or mopping floors first.
- Move laundry or dishes only when they block the agreed cleaning area.
- Identify items that should not be moved.
- Set aside products you specifically want the team to use, if agreed in advance.
- Make high-priority rooms easy to identify.
Plan for pets
Tell the company about pets before the appointment. Secure any animal that may become anxious, attempt to leave, react to equipment, or create an unsafe working condition. Provide clear instructions without expecting the cleaning team to assume pet-care responsibilities outside the agreed service.
Disclose special surfaces and sensitivities
Natural stone, unsealed wood, specialty finishes, antiques, damaged caulk, delicate fabrics, and recently refinished surfaces may require different products or methods. Share known care instructions, allergies, fragrance sensitivities, and previous reactions before work begins.
What you can leave to the team
Leave ordinary dust, bathroom residue, floor soil, kitchen buildup, reachable detail areas, and the other items included in your approved scope. The team should already understand what the service includes and arrive prepared for that work.
A strong visit begins with a clear scope
The most helpful preparation is accurate information. Photos, room counts, square footage, condition, access limits, and priority areas allow the cleaning company to plan the right amount of time and bring the right tools.
When something changes before the appointment, say so early. A new repair project, added room, illness, pest issue, or access problem can affect both safety and timing.
